Our Story Started with a Safari
Legacy
Founder and Director Eugen was born and raised in a small village near Ngorongoro. He grew up with a love of nature and an appreciation for the many tourists who visited the area. It was one such tourist who established the ‘Legacy’ that makes up our company name. Through a local school visit, Eugen deeply impressed an American tourist who began sponsoring his education in secondary school. This would go on to change Eugen’s life.
Over the years, Eugen’s work ethic and trustworthy nature resulted in the sponsor continuing to support Eugen through higher education, where he eventually earned his university degree. The generosity of this individual has created a ripple effect; not only opening doors for Eugen individually but allowing him to launch this company and create more jobs for the local community, too.
Eugen personally knows the positive impact travel can have on a community or an individual. To honor the legacy that began with him, Eugen emphasizes community interaction and personal cultural exchange with every safari.

The best kind of impact goes both ways: touching the local community in a positive and sustainable way and making life-long memories and profound change for the traveler. This is the exchange element of our tours.
We take cultural exchange very seriously and encourage travelers to spend several days at a school, join in homestays, and participate in the daily life of a local family. These are not 20-minute photo opportunities, but hours or days, to learn about and appreciate the culture and truly interact with the community. Travelers who take the time to dive beneath the surface of Tanzanian culture and engage not only find it rewarding but share that it is an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives.
Similarly, we encourage volunteer programs as part of your visit to Tanzania, based on your skills and education. Plan for several days of volunteering for the most ethical volunteering. You will not be disappointed!
