Climb Tanzania's Majestic Peaks!

Tanzania is home to some of the richest mountain habitats on earth, from towering volcanoes to lush and verdant forests home to a plethora of rare animals. Trekkers will be glad to know the trip doesn’t end once you summit Mount Kilimanjaro – there is so much more to see! We’ve made a list of some of the best mountain destinations in Tanzania, whether for day trips or multi-day hikes. Please note, as many of these mountains are located in protected national parks, we always recommend checking the latest park fees before you go.

Without a doubt, Tanzania’s best-known mountain and also the highest mountain in Africa is Mount Kilimanjaro with its peak at 5,895 m. There are six official climbing routes to the top and trekking durations vary from five to ten days. We specialize in four of the six routes: Marangu, Machame, Lemosho, and Rongai.

Less known but just as attractive as Mount Kilimanjaro is its “smaller brother” Mount Meru which is located in the Arusha National Park. Mount Meru’s peak rises to a height of 4,566 m and is only 80 km away from Mt Kilimanjaro. The mountain slopes offer natural shelter to numerous animal species such as elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, baboons, colobus monkeys, and antelopes, making your trek an adventurous one.

For most trekkers reaching the summit is a pivotal lifetime achievement. Many of them put a great deal of thought into the decision to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. After all, it is a long trip to a remote country in Africa. Also, compared to other hiking trips all over the world, Mt Kilimanjaro adventures are more expensive. Together combined, all these things make it necessary to plan your trip carefully.

There are many things to consider while planning your Mount Kilimanjaro climb. Lack of information, and, consequently, failure to make proper preparations is the main reason why even young and fit trekkers sometimes fail to reach the summit. On the other hand, armed with the right information, climbers of all ages and physical fitness levels confidently make their way to the top
