Tarangire National Park
Elephants Parade and Baobabs Rise in Tanzania’s Unspoiled National Park

Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park, often described as a hidden gem in Tanzania’s safari landscape, boasts a striking skyline dotted with iconic, bulbous baobab trees. Situated slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire offers a tranquil escape with less crowding, especially during the dry winter months when animals congregate around the Tarangire River, the only permanent water source in the area.
The park is celebrated for its substantial elephant population, with herds that can number up to 300 individuals visible from July to November. The dry season also sees migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and various antelope species flock to the diminishing water sources, while predators like lions, black-backed jackals, and bat-eared foxes are frequently observed. Additionally, Tarangire is a haven for bird enthusiasts, boasting over 550 species.
Tarangire invites visitors to engage deeply with the wilderness. Go on a walking safari to get up close to nature, or explore the park at night on a thrilling drive seeking nocturnal creatures. For those interested in culture and history, nearby ancient rock paintings in the Kolo area offer a fascinating diversion. The park’s diverse activities ensure that every Tanzania Safari Tour is packed with opportunities to connect with the wild and learn about the vibrant ecosystems of Tanzania.
